Help Our Neighbor Fight Cancer Again
Donation protected
Well, I normally don't like to publicize a good deed, but this one is different.
My wife also wants me to share it, and I think after hearing this, all of you will understand why.
We have a neighbor, very good people. When we moved here and felt unwelcome, they were always so nice to us.
Some years back, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Over the first few years, they had to sell almost everything except their home to pay for her treatments. She's a realtor, so this hits extra close to home for me. It's a small community here for us. She beat it, but now it's back again... and so are the bills.
Anyway, they've had a rough time making ends meet between that and everything else going on. Not to mention the travel costs back and forth between Austin and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, hotels, etc.
A few days ago, she posted in our neighborhood group. She stated that she owed the HOA quite a bit, and even though it says on their website they’ll offer repayment plans for up to 18 months, they want full payment now, or they’ll consider foreclosure soon.
She reached out to our HOA board, who absolutely has the authority to override this and tell the management company to do whatever they want, including forgiving the whole bill.
They told her to deal with the management company and left it at that.
Knowing full well what this nice woman and her family have been through, and are still going through, they did that.
So, I'm hoping that my friends and family can help out a little.
I will be adding $1,000 of my own money as a donation as well. I’ll also get a photo when we give her whatever we raise, if that makes anyone feel better.
Even if you're not able to donate much, or anything at all, prayers help too.
