We never imagined that just days after Christmas, our world would change forever.
In December 2025, our beautiful mum Karen was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which has spread to her stomach.
If you know her, you know she is the kindest soul you could ever meet. The kind of person who gives without ever expecting anything in return. And she’s not just an incredible mum, she’s the most loving, devoted Nanna too. Her grandkids are her whole world, and she has spent years filling their lives with laughter, personalised t-shirts and crafts she’s made on her Cricut, and most importantly, unconditional love.
Now it’s our turn to fight for her.
Despite the diagnosis, Mum hasn’t given up, not even close.
She is strong, determined, and still full of hope. She truly believes she has more life to live, more memories to make, and more time to spend with the people she loves most.
And we believe that too.
She has started a brutal chemotherapy regime called Folfirinox which we are hoping can shrink or stablilise her tumors. But to achieve long-term survival we need to add something in addition to chemotherapy as, in time, her tumor will start to resist the chemotherapy (pancreatic tumors are notorious for being difficult to treat and outsmarting drugs).
We’ve found a promising immunotherapy treatment in Germany called Dendritic Cell Therapy with Professor Gansuage. It’s a personalised vaccine designed to help her own body recognise and attack the tumour. It offers something we desperately need right now: hope. While it’s not a guaranteed cure, it could give her precious time and a real chance to slow the disease. It has some amazing testimonies of people overcoming Stage 4 diagnosis, and we know our Mum is one of the positive stories that will add to the testimonies for years to come.
All funds raised through this page will go directly toward Mum’s medical treatment, including the €18,000 euro cost for one round of immunotherapy, as well as the necessary flights and accommodation required for her to access this care in Germany. If we raise enough money she may be able to get a second or third vaccine as time progresses. This will give her an even better chance as it will help her tumor to not become resistant and allow her body to continue fighting.
Mum is not ready to go anywhere. She has too much love left to give, too many hugs to share, and too many moments still waiting for her.
We are asking, from the bottom of our hearts, for any support you can give, whether that’s a donation or simply sharing this page. Every little bit brings us closer to giving Mum a fighting chance and helping her create magical memories with her grandchildren.
Thank you for standing with us, for believing in hope, and for helping us fight for the most incredible woman we know.
