Our family is asking for your help for our hooyo who has spent her entire life helping others.
My mum is a loving mother of three, grandmother, widow, and a pillar of her community. Anyone who knows her knows that she is the kind of person who always shows up for others first. She gives sadaqah (charity), supports friends and neighbour in need, and leads with kindness and generosity in everything she does.
In 2024, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian cancer. Since then, she has endured an incredibly difficult medical journey. She has already gone through several rounds of chemotherapy, only to face the devastating news that the cancer returned just months later and there is no more treatment available for her here.
The treatments and the illness have taken a heavy toll on her body. She has experienced severe complications including large fluid buildup in her abdomen and lungs, requiring multiple painful medical procedures and hospital stays. Despite everything she has been through, she’s had sabr and put her full her trust in Allah. Always saying Alhamdullilah and not complaining once.
Doctors have told her and our family that she may only have a few months left.
Cancer specialists in Germany have reviewed her case and they’re very optimistic. They believe there is a treatment option (Liposomal doxorubicin) that could give her a fighting chance. We want to give her the opportunity for more time with her children, her grandchild, and the people who love her.
Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by insurance, and the cost is far beyond what our family can manage alone That is why we are turning to our community for help.
