Some of you know this, but many don’t—our mom, JoAnn, has been living with End Stage Renal (kidney) Failure for the past three years. Through incredible determination, she has worked tirelessly to improve her health: lowering her A1c to 5.8 and even quitting smoking three months ago. She has endured countless tests, exams, and procedures to qualify for a kidney transplant.
Now, by the grace of God, she has been officially approved for the National Kidney Donor List. Because she has been on dialysis for so long, she is at the top of the list and could get “the call” at any moment. That call will change her life—it will mean a second chance at health, at watching her grandchildren grow up, and at living free from the struggles she has faced daily.
But with this blessing comes urgent need. When the call comes, she’ll have only a few hours to get to Houston. After the transplant, she will be required to live there for at least a month, with frequent follow-up doctor visits. Housing, food, transportation, and medical-related expenses during this time will be significant. One of us will also have to take a leave of absence from work to be by her side, as required by the hospital.
That’s why we are reaching out. Our plea to family, friends, and anyone moved by her story: please help us lift this burden so Mom can focus on her recovery—not on the financial stress that comes with it. Every dollar raised will go directly toward her living and travel expenses during this critical time.
No gift is too small. Your generosity will allow our mom to take the most important call of her life without hesitation, knowing she has the support she needs. Together, we can give her the chance at a longer, healthier life surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, donations, and for sharing this campaign with others.
With love and gratitude,
