We’re writing this on behalf of our mom as she was recently in a bad car accident in February. She broke her heel bone and needed surgery to repair the complex fracture. Recovery has been very challenging, both physically and mentally. She is still not able to bear weight on this foot, leaving her unable to return to work for a while.

As many of you know, our mom lives with our elderly grandmother and uncle. Our grandmother is in poor health and has been mostly bedridden for some time. She is dependent upon our mom, uncle, and her caregivers. Unfortunately, her health insurance only covers so much, so our mom and uncle have been filling in the gaps for her care.

Most of the care is/was falling on our uncle despite him being limited as a double amputee and still going to work every day. However, he recently was also involved in a car accident and things have just become even more financially straining.

Between medical costs, the loss of mom's vehicle, struggling to care for their mother, and the financial strains of being out of work, our family has been having a hard time.

Our mom does so much to care for those around her and struggles to ask for help from others, so we want to give people an opportunity to support her if possible. Our fundraiser goal is estimated to cover mom's lost wages and some other expenses incurred since the wreck (medical, car-related, etc.). Reaching this fundraising goal would give our family the cushion they need until our mom is able to return to work as well as alleviate some of our challenges.
