Supporting Our Mom in Her Fight Against Breast Cancer

My name is Andrea, and I am creating this fundraiser for my mom as she faces one of the toughest battles of her life: breast cancer.

For more than 20 years, many people throughout Los Angeles, especially in Highland Park, have known my mom from her famous homemade tamales at the corner of Avenue 54 and Monte Vista. Others know her because family members, friends, and loyal customers proudly brought her delicious tamales to their workplaces, where they became a favorite breakfast that brightened so many mornings.

Behind every tamal were countless early mornings, long hours, and a mother’s determination to provide for her family. She has always been known as a strong, hardworking woman whose greatest priority has been her children. No matter how difficult life became, she never stopped working or caring for those she loved.

She has never been someone who asks for help. In fact, she has spent her life helping others, serving her community, and putting the needs of her family before her own.

Today, life has asked something different of her.

She is currently undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The treatments have taken a physical toll and have made it impossible for her to continue working. While she focuses on fighting this disease, the medical expenses and everyday household bills continue to grow.

This fundraiser is not about asking for charity. It is about giving a hardworking mother the opportunity to focus on healing instead of worrying about finances. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help cover medical expenses, medications, transportation to treatments, and essential living expenses during her recovery.

Mi nombre es Andrea y estoy creando esta campaña para apoyar a mi mamá mientras enfrenta uno de los desafíos más difíciles de su vida: el cáncer de mama.

Durante más de 20 años, muchas personas en Los Ángeles, especialmente en Highland Park, la han conocido por sus famosos tamales en la esquina de Avenue 54 y Monte Vista. Otras personas la recuerdan porque familiares, amigos y clientes llevaban sus deliciosos tamales a sus trabajos para compartirlos con sus compañeros y alegrarles la mañana con un desayuno casero lleno de sabor.

Detrás de cada tamal había incontables madrugadas, largas jornadas de trabajo y el esfuerzo de una madre decidida a sacar adelante a su familia. Siempre ha sido una mujer fuerte, trabajadora y generosa, que ha puesto a sus hijos por encima de cualquier otra cosa. Sin importar las dificultades, nunca dejó de trabajar ni de luchar por quienes ama.

Mi mamá nunca ha sido una persona que pida ayuda. Al contrario, siempre ha encontrado la manera de apoyar a los demás, servir a su comunidad y dar todo de sí por su familia.

Hoy, la vida le ha puesto una prueba diferente.

Actualmente está recibiendo quimioterapias para combatir el cáncer de mama. Los tratamientos han sido muy difíciles y le han impedido seguir trabajando. Mientras concentra todas sus fuerzas en luchar por su salud, los gastos médicos y los gastos básicos del hogar continúan acumulándose.

Esta campaña no nace para pedir lástima ni caridad. Nace porque incluso las personas más fuertes necesitan apoyo en algún momento de sus vidas. Queremos darle la tranquilidad de enfocarse en su recuperación sin que la preocupación económica sea una carga más. Cada donación será destinada a cubrir gastos médicos, medicamentos, transporte a sus tratamientos y los gastos esenciales del hogar durante este proceso.

Si alguna vez disfrutaste de uno de sus tamales, comenzaste tu jornada con uno de sus desayunos, la recomendaste a un amigo o simplemente crees en apoyar a una persona que ha dedicado su vida a trabajar honestamente y cuidar de los demás, estaremos profundamente agradecidos por tu ayuda.

Durante más de veinte años, mi mamá se despertó antes de que saliera el sol para que otras personas pudieran comenzar su día con un desayuno caliente. Hoy esperamos que esa misma comunidad pueda ayudarle a encontrar la fuerza para seguir luchando.
