Help Our Mom During Her Treatment Journey

Donation protected
Hi, My name Is Savannah and I am trying to help my mom raise money to help with some of the costs she will have while being off work to undergo her Chemotherapy Treatments.

As many of you know, my mom has been dealing with a persistent cough for quite some time, close to a year or maybe even longer. I went to visit my mom at the end of August this year, to help my younger brother, Mateo, move to Kamloops with us. While I was there I heard my mom cough, it literally sounded like something was bubbling in her chest. I told her that she really needed to go see a doctor, she went on to tell me that her local clinic wouldn't allow her in the building because of her cough, due to COVID regulations, even though she has been tested for COVID and it had came back negative they still made her wait outside so the doctor could listen to her chest outside. I'm sorry but how is a doctor supposed to hear anything with traffic driving by. Anyone who knows me can imagine how angry I was at this point. Now that mom was living all alone I called her constantly to beg her to call the clinic and demand for a chest X-ray as I could just feel that something was seriously wrong. I was terrified and needed her to be seen by a doctor. She called and finally was able to talk to a different doctor that actually took the time to listen to her. One of the first things this doctor asked was "have you had a chest x-ray yet?" mom explained how they wouldn't allow her in the clinic because of her cough. This doctor got her booked for a chest x-ray that same day. When the doctor looked at the results she called mom and told her that her lungs looked very ugly. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics for seven days and then had to have another chest x-ray to see if they helped, they didn't, her lungs still looked awful. At this point the doctor told her she would have to go to Kamloops for a CT scan. On September 21st mom decided to come to Kamloops so that if she got a call for the CT scan she would already be here. We ended up taking mom to the emergency shortly after she got to Kamloops. Mom had to have another COVID test, negative again. She had to have tons of bloodwork done, another chest x-ray, and a CT scan. They also were testing her for TB also was negative. We spent all day in the emergency waiting on results and tests to be done. At about 8:00pm she was told they needed to admit her for the night. Once she seen the respiratory doctor, he told her she would need to have a chest tube inserted to drain the fluid build-up that was on her lungs. Within the first 2 hours of having the tube in they had drained 2 full litres of fluid from her left lung. Mom ended up having over 3 litres drained from her left side. They then had drained her right side using something other than a chest tube and got about 1 litre from that side. After 10 days of being in the hospital and having multiple tests done she was finally discharged on October 1st. Some of the tests she had done while in the hospital were more chest x-rays, CT Scans, lots of bloodwork, Ultrasounds and a Biopsy. On October 4th, she had another ultrasound done. After waiting on results they then scheduled her to get a different biopsy done. We then had to wait on more results. On October 14th we got the worst news, we found out mom has Cancer. It had been confirmed that both Biopsy's that she had had done came back with cancerous cells. We were then told that the cancerous cells were in her cervix and in her lymph nodes. At this point we didn't know if it was anywhere else or how bad it was. The doctor sent everything to the Cancer Clinic and now we had to wait for a call for a consult appointment to find out all the results of if it is anywhere else and how bad it is. On November 3rd we found out that it is Stage 4, we were informed that if she doesn't undergo Chemotherapy treatments, she would maybe have 3 months, I felt sick to my stomach as the doctor continued talking. She then told us that with treatments she could have up to a year maybe a little more. The doctor told us its unlikely that mom will go into remission, however it could happen, so we are trying to stay hopeful. They told us that the Cancer was in her Cervix, her Lymph Node and in her Lungs.

Mom has decided to start Chemotherapy Treatments. Her first treatment will be on Monday, November 8th.

As mom has been unable to work since September 2nd, which she only managed to work 2 hrs that day, and with the cost of having to be away from home, and all the prescription medications that she will need while she undergoes Chemotherapy treatments, we are trying to raise some money, as the last thing we want our mom to be worrying about is finances and how she will pay for everything including her rent, any and all medications that she will be on while doing treatments.

My mom has 4 Children Myself (34) and my 3 brothers, Y-van(37), Rodney(35) and Mateo(22)
She Also has 5 young Grandchildren Sienna(11), Rylie(almost 10), Scarlett & Leil(9) and Gavin(almost 2)

We appreciate any and all donations to help with the costs.

Thank you for taking the time to read my mom's story.

Hello everyone, I haven't had to update in a while as our mom has been doing alright since her last Chemo Treatment in May 2022. Since then she has been diagnosed with Ureter Urothelial Carcinoma. They were starting to make a plan for this when they got the results from a head CT scan. They have found a 5.3 X 4 X 5-centimeter Lesion within the right parietal and temporal lobes resulting in localized mass effect with effacement of the temporal horn, posterior horn and body of the right lateral ventricle and of the right peri mesencephalic cisterns. Now that the Cancer is in her brain she will have to go to Kelowna to have radiation treatments. This means she will have to be away from her kids and grandkids while receiving treatments. With having to be in a different city for treatments, this will come with a lot more expenses so we appreciate any support that can be offered.
