This is not a story we ever thought we'd be telling. Our mom never asked for help, and now she needs it more than ever. Angela is a selfless, loving, hardworking mother and grandmother that is currently fighting a brain tumor.
This all came very fast and out of the blue and was a total shock to our entire family. Within the past month we noticed that our mom started losing the ability to speak, think clearly, balance herself and more. It is so incredibly hard for us all to see someone who is usually always laughing and smiling, and taking care of her loved ones, slowly lose her independence.
She is currently staying in the Neuro ICU at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh PA. She is constantly being monitored and waiting for her first biopsy of the mass on Monday (January 5th). We are all taking this one day at a time and keeping our spirits high and hoping for the best for our mom.
Unfortunately, our mom also got let go at her job days before we found out what was going on. She had interviews lined up but obviously, she can't work for a few months after recovery. She currently lives with her boyfriend and her 16 year old son. During this time, our family is struggling to keep up with the costs of everything on top of basic living expenses. Since she is going to be staying in the hospital they urgently need assistance with:
- Household bills
- Gas expenses for driving back and fourth to and from Pittsburgh (3 hours total each day)
- Food for the family
- some medical bills not covered by insurance
- therapies and support during and after recovery
- medication
She has spent her life taking care of her kids, now it's our turn to help our mom! We can't wait to see her get back to her old self and continue jeeping, playing with her grandkids, spending time in nature and doing what she loves. We still can't believe any of this is happening...
