As winter approaches and the days get darker and colder, many of our young people face unsafe and difficult journeys to and from training and games. Our minibus is more than transport — it is a safe space and support system that protects young athletes and ensures they can continue doing what they love.
At RDF Eagles Basketball Academy, the minibus is used 5–7 days per week, taking players to training, dropping them home safely, and transporting teams to games across London and beyond.
Why We Need Your Support
✔ Protecting Young People
Unfortunately, there are growing concerns in London around:
- theft of personal belongings,
- young people travelling late in the dark,
- pressures and negative influences in certain areas.
By offering safe, supervised, free transport, we reduce these risks and make sure our players travel home protected and supported.
✔ Ensuring Players Can Attend Training & Games
Without the minibus, many young people would struggle to get home from training due to the early darkness and cold weather — and some **would not be able to attend games at all**. Your support helps us keep them engaged, consistent, and connected to positive opportunities.
✔ Keeping the Minibus Running
Fuel costs, servicing, and repairs have all increased dramatically.
Our minibus was off the road for 2½ years because we could not afford the maintenance and diesel required to operate it.
We have already invested over £2,000 to bring it back to life — now we want to keep it sustainable, reliable, and in constant use for the young people who need it most.

- After-training drop-offs to keep young people safe
