My name is Nabil Alhadi. My EMS partner Joel Ramos suffered an unimaginable traumatic injury. He is a loving husband to his wife and an awesome dad to his 5 kids. I felt compelled to do anything in my power to help him through this tough time in his family's lives.

Joel and I have worked together for over 10 years on the greatest ambulance unit in Brooklyn. We've been through a lot together, and in tough situations, we stick together. This is one of those situations that's gonna require the love and support of the entire EMS family.

Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Strangers,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend and paramedic partner, Joel Ramos, who recently suffered a devastating injury while off-duty. Joel sustained a traumatic fracture of the tibia and fibula, a heel (calcaneus) fracture, and a crushed knee, requiring emergency surgery, extended hospitalization, and a long, uncertain road to recovery.

As a dedicated paramedic, Joel has spent years rushing to the aid of others — often putting his own safety second — to save lives and comfort people in their worst moments. Now, it’s our turn to step up and support a real-life hero in his greatest time of need.

Joel is not only a frontline responder — he’s a devoted husband and father of five beautiful children, one of which is a newborn. He and his wife have just recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of purchasing a home, a place to grow and build memories with their family. But now, with Joel unable to work for the foreseeable future and the medical bills piling up, this dream is on the brink of becoming a financial nightmare.

He faces multiple surgeries, months (if not longer) of intensive physical therapy, and possible permanent mobility challenges. During this time, he will not be able to work, which places an enormous strain on their family's income — all while dealing with pain, rehabilitation, and the emotional toll of this life-altering event.
