We are writing with a heart full of love and a spirit of urgent hope for our mother, Yvonne Peart.
At 74 years old, a woman who has spent her entire life as a pillar of strength for her family and community is now facing the fight of her life. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer: Metaplastic Breast Cancer (MBC).
This diagnosis has shaken our world. Constituting less than 1% of all breast cancers, MBC is known for its resistance to standard chemotherapy and rapid progression. Time, now more than ever, is of the essence.
Her Life of Service:
Yvonne is the true definition of a matriarch. She dedicated her career to nurturing minds as a teacher and healing hearts as a social worker, touching countless young lives before her retirement. As the eldest of nine siblings, she helped raise her brothers and sisters, a role that defined her natural instinct to care for others. She is the glue of our family—a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and our unwavering source of wisdom and grace.
The Urgent Medical Battle & Our Plan:
The aggressive nature of this cancer requires an equally aggressive and specialized response. Standard treatments offer limited hope, so we are racing against time to explore new, targeted therapies and clinical trials that could give her a fighting chance.
Our urgent plan has three critical parts:
- Access to Specialized Treatment & Relocation: We need to immediately relocate her to a leading cancer institution that specializes in rare and complex cancers like MBC. This is where the most advanced treatment options, including immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and potential clinical trials, are available. This move is time-sensitive and crucial.
- Round-the-Clock Care: The cancer and its treatments have been devastating. She has lost her mobility and needs constant, skilled care for her basic needs and comfort. We are committed to ensuring she has the dignity and support she deserves every single day.
- Funding for New Therapies: We are actively researching all possible options—treatments not widely available or covered by insurance. These emerging therapies represent our greatest hope, but they come with significant costs.
