Help our local, single dad! Serious cancer diagnosis

My name is James “Ted” Calvert.

I am starting this Gofundme drive hoping to help out a single dad in my community who is staring down a recent cancer diagnosis. John is father to Lamsen, a student at Terra Nova HS in Pacifica. I’ve intersected with John through parenting, the building trades, and mutual friends. Lamsen, now a high school junior, was a champ to my kids (3 and 4 years younger) since we met in 2016 at the aftercare center.

The prognosis is heartbreaking. At a minimum they are facing 5 more rounds of chemo, and radiation, in addition to laser therapy. He already had to undergo a related preemptive surgery which necessitated the need for a walker.

Lamsen is a recent recipient of a driver’s license (which is now huge), but will be beginning the days of college apps, essays and tours amid new distraction and uncertainty.

I am hoping we can attract some empathetic sponsors to help John and Lamsen with some of the associated expenses, while they do what they can to support each other.
