Hi, my name is Rohan and my wife's name is Irene. Today we were told our little boy Aikka (eye-ka) has cancer.
We were not at all prepared for this news, and while he's been feeling a bit sick the last couple of weeks we had both been staying as positive as we could, and hoped it was something that he'd get over easily.
When he stopped eating we obviously became worried (he LOVES food, see evidence of chonk below), so today we took him in for an ultrasound to investigate a mass the vet had discovered.
We just received a call to inform us that there are multiple masses and that it is cancer. It's most likely high-grade lymphoma, which would require chemo or palliative care. The less scary alternative is that it's a different cancer that has not metastasized and we can remove it with surgery.
I work from home, building up a small business. We make just enough to pay our bills and squirrel a little bit away for rainy days like this. My wife is on unpaid leave for mental health, and is doing as much as she can part time to keep us afloat.
While we've been able to keep up with the vet fees so far, this current visit with the cost of an ultrasound and a guided biopsy is pushing us to the limit. His treatment moving forward will be outside of what we're capable of affording, and this is why we're reaching out today.
Any money that we can raise here will go directly to paying for any ongoing treatment, including visits to the vet and either surgery or the chemo.
We love our boy so much, he's the gentlest, snuggliest, most loving and affectionate animal I have ever known. He doesn't deserve this, and he's too young for us to just let him go peacefully. It is not his time.
We're going to fight this with every fiber of our bodies. We're going to fight with him to kick cancer's ass. It would mean the world to us if you would join us to help Aikka beat this thing, and give him the time he deserves with his family.
