As many of you know our family and our farm have been blessed for many years by the hardworking men from Jamaica who help us care for and run Sunnycrest Farm. These men are far more than seasonal workers; they’re part of our family and we could not do it without them. They spend months away from their own loved ones to provide for their families back home.

Hurricane Melissa has brought heartbreaking devastation to their communities in Jamaica. Most of our men have been able to reach their families and loved ones, but one is still waiting to make contact. We don’t yet know the full extent of the damage, but we do know that at least one has lost his roof and others have significant damage to their farmland. Their crops and agricultural land, which provide both food and income for their families, have been destroyed, everything they’ve worked so hard to build. After an entire season of hard work here, they should be heading home to rest and enjoy time with their families. Instead, they’re returning to uncertainty and loss.

We’re coming together as a community to raise funds to help them rebuild and to offer hope as they begin the long road to recovery. Many of you have asked how you can help. We have set up a Go Fund Me Page and every dollar donated will go directly to their families as they work to rebuild their lives.

For anyone who would prefer to give in person, we’ll also have a cash relief fund box set up in our farm store. If you cannot make a financial contribution, we ask that you keep them and their families in your prayers.

Together, we can show these men and their families that the love and dedication they’ve given to our family and community have not gone unnoticed. Let’s stand with them, lift them up, and support them in every way they need.
