I’m writing this with a heavy heart. Our grandson Draven Gilbert, who lives in Mayfield,KY, is facing an unimaginable tragedy at this time.
As you know, a major tornado hit Mayfield early Sunday morning. Drae was working at the candle factory that was destroyed. Over 70 people were killed in the factory. He was trapped inside, but by the grace of God, was pulled out alive.
His father Derek, his Grandmother Pam and his aunt Pam were found deceased in an around their home. Draven was there when his father’s body was recovered. His Grandmother and his Aunt’s bodies were found and identified by our son in law Chris Stairs. Beyond heartbreaking…
Drae watched his car flip 3 times in the parking lot of the candle factory. It’s a total loss. Basically, he has no home, no car, no possessions; just the clothes on his back.
Our daughter Katie, Draven’s mother, and her family also live in Mayfield. Their home was not damaged. We’re not sure if their businesses survived.
Please keep them all in your prayers. I hope that you will be able to help us get our grandson some help with his basic needs.
