On Thursday, Dec. 18th, our family experienced a sudden and heartbreaking event. A large tree fell directly onto our mother/grandmother’s (Momma Kat) home while she and her daughter were inside. By God’s grace, they both survived, but the experience was terrifying and has left them shaken, traumatized, and overwhelmed.

Momma Kat is 79 years old and has lived in this home for many years. Unfortunately, she did not have homeowner’s insurance, which means all repairs will have to be paid completely out of pocket. As an elder with no steady income, this situation has placed an enormous financial burden on our family. The responsibility of repairing her home and supporting her daily needs now falls solely on her children and grandchildren.

At this time, she is staying with her daughter and son-in-law until her home can be made safe and livable again. During this transition, there are unexpected expenses for repairs, temporary living costs, and basic daily necessities.

We know this is the holiday season and times are tough for many, but any amount—no matter how small—would mean the world to our family.
