Hello everyone, Help us give our granddaughter Sienna a safer, happier life. We are reaching out today with hopeful hearts to share our granddaughter Sienna's story. About three years ago, our sweet Sienna was diagnosed with epilepsy, and since then, our world has changed in so many ways. What began as occasional seizures has progressed into medically refractory epilepsy, meaning there’s no medication now that will stop them. Sienna endures 30, 50, and sometimes more seizures a day. She is now at high risk for SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), words which no family wants to hear. We will be going to Seattle at the end of October, and she will undergo a major surgery, which is scary, and doctors cannot promise success, but we are clinging to hope. Even the smallest chance of reducing her seizures is worth every risk if it means giving her a better quality of life. This journey has been heartbreaking and exhausting for all of us. Our son and daughter-in-law have completely rearranged their lives to care for Sienna, with countless doctor appointments, hospital stays, and therapy appointments. Her mom had to leave her job so she could be by Sienna’s side every moment of every day, and the emotional and financial strain is overwhelming, and medical bills continue to pile up. One thing that would make a difference for Sienna is a specially trained service animal. These incredible animals can sense and respond to seizures, comfort her during and after, and even alert caregivers before one begins. It can also become her comfort companion and friend. Unfortunately, the cost of training and obtaining a service animal is far more than our family can manage right now, especially on top of everything else. That is why we are turning to you, our friends, neighbors, and community, and asking for help. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly to Sienna’s medical care and the cost of a service animal. It’s more than just financial help; it’s hope and a chance for Sienna to feel safer, her parents to breathe a little easier, and for our family to see a brighter future. Sienna is brave beyond words, funny, loving, and deserves the chance to live a fuller childhood. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading Sienna’s story and helping us in any way you can. With heartfelt gratitude Steve & Jacque Gronnvoll
