Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts during one of the most frightening times our family has ever faced. Our beautiful 3.5-month-old granddaughter—our little ray of sunshine—was suddenly life-flighted to the pediatric ICU (PICU) after her tiny body struggled to breathe. Just weeks ago, she was a happy, giggling baby hitting all her milestones, bringing endless joy to everyone around her. Then she started showing signs of a bad cold: congestion, cough, and trouble feeding. What seemed like a typical infant illness quickly turned serious. She tested positive for three respiratory viruses, including RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) and others (likely including human metapneumovirus or parainfluenza—commonly co-occurring in severe infant cases). These viruses hit her hard and fast, leading to severe breathing difficulties. She was urgently airlifted to the children's hospital, where she is now sedated, intubated on a ventilator, and receiving powerful medications to help her fight these infections and support her fragile lungs. The doctors and nurses are doing everything possible around the clock, but this is a critical battle for such a small baby. Every day in the PICU brings new ups and downs, and we're clinging to hope while staying by her side as much as we can.

This unexpected emergency has brought enormous financial strain on top of the emotional one. We're facing high medical bills and hospital costs not fully covered by insurance, travel and lodging expenses to be near her, lost wages from time off work to care for her and support the family, and other unexpected needs during this prolonged hospital stay. We never imagined needing to ask for help, but every dollar will directly ease our burden so we can focus on her recovery.
