Our friends in South Africa could use a helping hand during COVID-19!
From program leader Wiebke Nedel, “Educo Africa has had to ask all staff to volunteer until courses can run again and new programmes designed in response to the trauma caused through COVID-19 and the lock down have received funding and are deliverable. The South African government only supports NGOs minimally in this crisis. The country is struggling on ALL fronts. Supporting Educo Africa at this time means that all staff members will be
able to continue to make ends meet and support their families and that Educo Africa can continue to cover its operational costs until we can start
running programmes again. We are currently running with a volunteer scenario planned until October 2020.”
South Africa has had one of the most severe lock-downs for quarantine purposes which has left people out of work and in need of outside help for food and care. Many of Educo Africa’s staff live in the townships of Cape Town where people were struggling even before the pandemic struck. They have no reserves.
