Hi! My name is Eryn. Troy is one of my best friends and has really hit some really bad health issues. He could use a little help to make sure he's able to stay on his feet and to heal properly. I know lots of us love Troy and don't want to see him sick or losing his life & health. Below is the story he shared with us on Face Book.
"This will be a long rant. Medical stuff is lame and involved.
Sooooo I'm missing last Tuesdays pic but I'm finally doing better. The short story is I've had three rough goes this last year in the hospital. I went from 180 pounds of to 134 pounds of straw when I left the hospital at my worst. And for being 6"3' that's not good lol.
This was a rough year and I can't tell you how much I needed my friends and how they all came through.
I was hoping every time I went in and out I could stick to the original story but it kept compounding. So it's a long yarn and feel free to pass it.
It started with covid last February. It didn't even make me sick enough to call out lol it was still a liberal hoax. I promise I would have called out if I realized what it was. 6 months later the long term effects hit me. I had a lower lung infection that just wouldn't quit.
Then I got the vaccine to be a proper adult....turns out I'm lucky and probably one of like 22 people in the US who has a violent reaction to the moderna vaccine. So my lungs tried to shut down.(please do t be a vaccine hater, even with it trying to kill me I know science wasn't trying to). This set me aside for a couple weeks trying not to die.
Thought my lungs wouldn't atrophy too much but unfortunately my job was to physical. So I tried to make it work until I was hospitalized again. This time they told me it was because my left lung was so atrophied it could only expand like 75%.which is most of it so I should complain.
Which I didn't until two days ago. When I was hospitalized again. But this time I got to learn something.
They meant to leave me with a lung exercise machine to combat my lung atrophy....except they forgot to give it to me after the last time I was hospitalized. I was trying to recovery lung tissue with no help. Without the exercise machine I wasn't doing anything for my left lung.
I only bring this up because I feel some people like me just had a bad draw. We aren't lazy and if you've seen my carpentry work you know it...but because of how medical bills and our country frame it I'm either lazy or stupid.
The real truth is I had a rough year that culminated in 7,000 dollars worth of debt. Which wouldn't be bad if I didn't have to go into the ER two days ago without insurance. So it all comes down to two bad days and I'm financially crippled for the rest of my adulthood.
I'll always be fine because that's all I know how to be but...I just wanted to give a blanket statement. Because some of you deserve to know why I've been absent. And I doubt it but some people needed to understand how prepared you can and cannot be for something like your lungs being ripped out of you.
I love all of you and I'm truly glad to still be here. Just wish American medical want such a show"
