4 weeks to help our friend Sushil
Donation protected
We are raising funds for medical treatment for our friend Sushil, who is originally from the Chittagong area of Bangladesh. He lived in Sheffield, UK, for nine years, during which time he was a valuable member of organisations including City of Sanctuary Sheffield and Open Kitchen Social Club, where he volunteered his time and made a positive contribution. In 2014, he was illegally deported under Thereas May’s “hostile environment” policy. As a member of a persecuted ethnic minority in his country of origin, Sushil’s social circumstances are extremely difficult.
Before travelling to the UK, Sushil was a practicing Buddhist monk. As a result of his social work and campaigning for minority rights, Sushil gained the attention of a fundamentalist political group who started a campaign of persecution against him and his family. Since being removed from the UK, Sushil is unable to live an open, productive life and is isolated in a remote rural community.
Sushil has suffered from a stroke, leaving him paralysed down his left side, and needs £800 to pay for medical expenses. Prior to his being forced to flee his country of origin, Sushil had enjoyed a positive lifestyle where he was able to travel, give and receive education and work towards for the benefit or Buddhists and other minorities in his community. We would now like to give something back to this man who has spent much of his life supporting others, in his hour of need. Please give what you can to support his rehabilitation.
