Dear all,
My friends and I would like to ask for your support for someone very close to our hearts. If you could spare a minute to read this, it would mean the world to us.
Back in 2012, our close friend Priya first got diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma; a type of blood cancer.
She was only 23 then, looking forward to starting her career following graduating from university.
Over the next 9 years, despite some treatment success it has been a very difficult journey with 2 relapses and a prolonged stay in hospital.
Last week (Feb 2021), she was admitted to undergo a stem cell transplant in a London hospital. Having had one earlier in 2017, Priya knows that this potentially curative treatment is very gruelling and for some unlucky few, can also be fatal.
Unfortunately, at this moment she’s having a very rough time in hospital. Her current treatment has been more difficult than usual with some unexpected hurdles in being able to absorb the medication. It’s so sad how much harder this in the presence of COVID-19, there is the obvious increased risk it poses to her, but also the intense hospital isolation. Like others in her position, she has to go through this on her own; away from her fiancé Dave and her family (for at least a month)... making this an even more difficult time for them all.
Despite all this and the several relapses, Pri has always maintained a positive outlook in life and is one of the strongest people I know. She is such a wonderful person and she has been so strong and brave throughout this, I don’t think I have heard her moan or complain once. She is also selfless in a way that means she would never ask for help even if she needed it.
However, I think she deserves all the help in the world right now.
Priya has a long road ahead in her battle against cancer. When Priya gets past her treatment she will be focusing on a lengthy rehabilitation. But I hope she will feel much better in the days and months to come, and that she can once again enjoy the company of her loved ones and the little things in life. I hope we can help Pri in making the road to recovery a little easier and give her something to look forward to.

Unknown to her, we are raising money for the many costs that go along with cancer treatment; from the little comforts that make treatment more bearable, to easing a lot of financial pressures that mount whilst she has been off work for the last 14 months, and perhaps for bucket-list experiences that Pri would really like to do (there are so many, you wouln’t keep up!). We were also hoping this could help her plan a proper (but also safe) holiday to recuperate soon when she gets a good run of health.
A donation of any size would be amazing. We do recognise that this year has been hard emotionally and financially for so many people. So even if you find that you’re not in a place to contribute financially, I am thankful that you took the time to read.
