Dear friends and family,

We are starting this fundraiser for our dear friend Khim, a kind and positive person and father of two who has always been there for others with a smile, and who now needs that same support himself. Khim, and his family, have been our close friends ever since we met on Siargao Island (Philippines) seven years ago.

In the early morning of New Year's Day, on his way to work, Khim was involved in a serious motorbike accident. He fell a sleep while driving and unfortunately, he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Since then, his life has been completely turned upside down. As a result of the accident, he will require three surgical procedures. The first operation is scheduled for January 3, after which the recovery period remains uncertain. Two additional surgeries will follow. His jaw need to be fitted with a metal plate, and one of his cheekbones is severely fractured. The initial surgery will focus on repairing the cheekbone.

In addition to the physical and emotional impact, this situation brings significant financial and practical challenges. Because of the surgery and recovery, Khim is unable to work for the time being, while expenses continue to increase for him and his family.

With this fundraiser, we hope to give him some financial peace of mind, so he can focus fully on his surgery and recovery.

For the first operation they need to pay PHP 120.000 (around 1700 euro) as a down payment. This is the first payment, the total of the medical cost will be over PHP 300.000.

So our goal is to raise in total PHP 300.000 (around 4300 euro), which will be used for:

• medical imaging (X-rays, scans, and other diagnostic tests)

• hospital admission and surgical expenses

• medication and post-operative care

• transportation to and from medical appointments/other medical facilities

Khim, or his family, does not have the energy to organize something like this themself right now, which is why we are doing this for him and his family — out of love and friendship.
