Fernando (Adolfo Larios), who has been a beloved volunteer at the First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles for more than 20 years and community volunteer at Urban Partners Los Angeles food bank suffered a devastating loss to his entire apartment. Your support and donations are greatly needed.

On August 16, while attending services, Fernando and his wife Magdalena Hernandez returned home to find firefighters fending off flames to their apartment. An electrical problem that the landlord failed to fix had caused the fire. Everything was lost. The only thing they have now is each other and the clothes they were wearing. Luckily no one was hurt.  
We love Fernando.  He has been a valued part of the First Unitarian Church family for 20 years.  Every night he checks on the church to make sure everything is safe and secure and closes our Westmoreland parking lot.  He's also been a wonderful contributor to the Francis Street garden project and has helped many of our members through difficult times.

Fernando has also been a dedicated volunteer with Urban Partners Los Angeles for 12 years. Every Saturday, he arrives at 5am to prepare for the food bank operation which distributes free groceries to over 1,000 low-income neighbors. He is always in the front managing the lines and making sure the distribution runs smoothly for the thousands of seniors and families who depend on food weekly. 


For years, Fernando has been standing up for the less fortunate, and now he needs our help. Let's stand with Fernando and Magdelena during this difficult time. We are asking for your donations to help them get back on their feet and start their road to recovery.
