My family lives in Hawaii, and we’re currently dealing with an extremely upsetting and painful situation involving our neighbors. Their son has shot both of our cats, who are only about a year old. The first incident happened a short time ago when one of our cats was shot in the eye. We were devastated and unsure of what to do. We contacted a local vet, who advised us to file a police report so we could try to hold the neighbor responsible and possibly recover the cost of the vet bill. Sadly, we couldn’t afford the treatment at the time, so we did our best to care for our cat at home. Then, on July 19, 2025, our second cat was also shot in the eye. This time, we contacted the police right away. After an investigation, we were told that the neighbor’s son admitted to shooting both of our cats. Now we are trying to work with the neighbors to hold them accountable, but they’re refusing to cooperate. Instead of helping, they’ve been hostile and have even told us to “go back to California.” This has made an already heartbreaking situation even more difficult. We’re asking for help to cover medical costs for our cats and any legal support we may need to protect our family and pets. We love our animals, and we just want to make sure they are safe and that justice is served.
