If anyone knows me, and has offered help, chances are I didn't take it. I may have said that I would let you know, or told you I was fine. Asking for and accepting help is one of the hardest things for me to do. With that being said, we really need help.
My husband, as many of you know, has been admitted to the hospital for the 2nd time this year, for his heart. Last week, he went to the ER for chest pressure and shortness of breath, and was admitted to the Cardiac Unit because of his preexisting heart problems. There, they found an unexpected infection of his gallbladder, which seemed to have also affected his kidneys and liver. They transferred him again to the CVICU, where they found that the ejection fraction of his heart was at only 10-15%, down from the 45% it was at just 9 months ago. They are trying to get him into Brighams in Boston to see a heart failure specialist. There is a very likely need for a pacemaker or lifevest to help with his heart. On top of this he was already anticipating urgent radiation therapy or surgery for his thyroid, which we just had been informed of not even 2 weeks ago. All surgeries are being put on hold until there is more of a definite and clear answer to what is causing everything and until his heart is not at such a high risk of failure. At the moment everyone is stumped. My husband is 29.
Just one month ago I gave birth to our son, his first child. I also have a 5 year old, his stepson, who loves him dearly. I have been going back and forth to the hospital with a newborn and a preschooler. As if that hasn't been hard enough, He will certainly be out of work. We have rent, loans, utilities, groceries, travel expenses and any other bills coming our way that I am asking for any help with so that we can be as stress free as possible during his treatments and recovery. We don't know how long he will be away from home. We don't know when or if he will be able to work, and that is the last thing I want him to worry about...
He should be home, holding his newborn son and his wife, and continuing to teach his stepson his biggest passion, cooking.
In the end, the biggest help to us right now would be financial, as it is a dark cloud in the backs of our minds. If anyone is ABLE, and feels it being put on their hearts to do so, it would never go unappreciated, and we would be extremely grateful. Help us get through his treatments and his recovery without additional financial stress.
Thank you for your care and concern, with or without a donation.
