Our family is facing an overwhelming crisis with our two precious young children. Our 4-month-old baby girl was born with a rare and severe condition, leading to over 100 days in the NICU and now time in the PICU. She requires intensive care, and doctors have indicated she may need lifelong support if she comes home. Meanwhile, our 5-year-old son has autism and requires constant, in-home supervision and care every day.
For the past four months, we have not been able to work full-time. We take turns—one at the hospital with our daughter, one at home with our son. In the little free time we have, we do part-time gig work driving for Uber, Lyft, and Amazon Flex to earn what we can.
Despite our best efforts, this limited income is not enough to cover our mortgage, utilities, daily living expenses, and the massive medical bills. While Texas Children’s has approved coverage for our daughter’s ongoing care (which we are deeply grateful for), St. Luke’s Health and Kelsey-Seybold denied the insurance denied payment for many hospital costs related to her birth and initial hospitalization, leaving us with significant unexpected debt right from the start.
This is a long-term challenge: with one child in intensive care and the other needing full-time support at home, our focus must remain on them 24/7. We’re heartbroken and terrified we might lose our home or stability during this fight, and we can’t bear the thought of not providing a safe, loving environment for our kids.
We’ve always tried to manage on our own, but we’re at our breaking point and humbly asking for help. Any donation will directly support:
• Paying down remaining medical bills and birth-related debt
• Covering mortgage and utilities to keep our home secure
• Meeting daily family needs so we can stay by our children’s sides
• A small fund for potential long-term therapies and care
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading our story and for any support you can give. Every bit brings us hope and strength to keep going for our little ones.
