It took Josh & Autumn almost 2 years to get pregnant. After multiple tests with the Reproductive Endocrinologist, they were both diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Right before starting IUI treatment, they got a positive pregnancy test!
Week 13: Two subchorionic hemorrhages were noticed, amd Autumn was placed on a few restrictions.
Week 19: Autumn's water broke, was placed on more restrictions, & started having weekly Maternal Fetal Medicine appointments.
Week 23 weeks, 4 days: Autumn was to be hospitalized in the high risk unit through the remainder of the pregnancy. They were told the latest Jenna would be born would be 34 weeks, on June 7th (due date was July 19th).
25 weeks, 5 days: Easter Sunday, there was a contraction scare that landed Autumn in Labor & Delivery (l&d). Thankfully, things settled down after 12 hours of magnesium, and they were moved back to the high-risk unit.
26 weeks, 3 days: Morning: the heart rate monitor, contraction monitor, and daily scans all appeared fine, so Josh headed home midday to grab a few things and stay the night at home.
Evening: Autumn was constipated & began feeling waves of discomfort, worsening throughout the night to extreme pain. The contraction monitor wasn't picking up any contractions, & since she was still constipated, that's what the focus was on: constipation. At one point, 2 nurses were in the room trying to get the contraction monitor to pick up what she was feeling, as she was in tears during each wave of pain.
26 weeks, 4 days: After a long night of being constipated & not knowing she was in labor, Autumn unexpectedly, gave birth to Jenna, and Josh was at home. Josh arrived at the hospital, saw baby Jenna in the NICU, and was just in time to hold Autumn's hand as she woke up from anesthesia. A d&c had to be done to get the placenta out.
Jenna was very critical due to her gestational age, and will potentially remain in the NICU until her due date in July. Josh & Autumn spend as much time with her as they can, but its also mentally challenging to see Jenna that way, and to not be able to do much to help. Autumn is struggling with post partum depression, and is comforted by Josh's presence when staying near and visiting the NICU.
Please consider donating to allow this new family of 3 to be able to spend more time together, and not stress over Josh missing a few days worth of pay each week from work.
As of 4-23-23, Baby Jenna is 1 week old!
Autumn & Josh would love for Josh not to have to stress over work everyday.
Autumn says it's a huge comfort having Josh with her, especially while navigating all of these new emotions. Josh has FMLA, but of course, that's unpaid. He has roughly a week of PTO left, but would like to use that for the week they finally get to bring their sweet Jenna home. Some days Josh works remotely vs in person, but that still keeps him away from Autumn & Jenna.
