My family and I—three adults, two of us living with chronic illnesses and one of whom uses a wheelchair, and our three beloved cats—are facing eviction after a series of setbacks that have left us struggling to keep our home. Over the past two months, we lost our income due to illness from COVID-19, which not only affected our health but also prevented us from taking on our usual freelance writing contracts and launching our business projects.
To make matters worse, we became victims of a predatory credit consolidation company. Their actions, combined with a series of unexpected bank overdraft fees, cost us more than a month and a half of rent. We’ve reached out to local charities and state agencies for rental assistance, but our situation keeps falling between the cracks and doesn’t meet all their requirements.
We are not just waiting for things to get better—we have been working on several online business ventures and creative projects to build a more stable future. These efforts have real potential, but the setbacks from illness and financial hardship have delayed our progress. We are doing everything we can to get back on our feet, but right now, we need help to pay our overdue rent and cover next month’s rent so we can regain stability.
Your support would give us the breathing room to focus on our health and get back to work. We never imagined we’d be in this position, and asking for help is incredibly difficult for us. Any support you can offer would mean the world to our family and help us move forward. Thank you for reading and considering a donation.
