Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out on behalf of our family during an incredibly difficult time.
Last year, our lives were turned upside down when my husband was brutally attacked while driving for Lyft. A passenger attempted to steal his car and stabbed him more than a dozen times with two steak knives. He survived, and we are so thankful — but the physical and emotional trauma has been life-altering.
Since that day, he hasn’t been able to return to work. He now lives with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Even leaving the house is often too overwhelming. Because he was classified as a self-employed driver, he doesn’t qualify for unemployment or disability benefits. His only income is $541 per month from Social Security retirement.
While we’re grateful that Medicaid is now helping cover some therapy costs, it doesn’t cover basic needs like rent, food, utilities, and daily essentials. We’ve been doing everything we can to stay afloat, but it’s been a struggle — and the financial stress makes it even harder for our family to focus on healing.
We’re hoping to raise $4,000 to help us catch up on bills, remain in our home, and give my husband the time and support he needs to continue recovering. Every single dollar will go directly toward helping our family stay stable through this time.
If you’re able to contribute — no matter the amount — or simply help us by sharing this, we would be so deeply grateful.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
With love,
Cigdem Ozdemir
