Help Our Family Start Over After Losing Our Home to a Tornado

Last night, a tornado tore through our town and destroyed our home, alongside so many others in our community who are now facing unimaginable loss as well. Our family barely made it out alive. At one point, we were trapped in the car while the tornado literally went right over us. Debris and thick rain were spinning all around us, and it was one of the most terrifying moments of our lives. In the thick of the storm, Austin drove hundreds of miles in the middle of the night through severe tornado weather to come get us and bring us somewhere safe. We are all incredibly shaken up, devastated, and feeling more lost than ever.

Somehow, we — along with our pets — made it out alive and physically okay, and we know how incredibly blessed we are for that. But we lost our home and most of our belongings. We haven’t even fully been able to process everything yet because the damage is so severe.

To make things even harder, we were already struggling before this happened. I recently lost my job because of ongoing medical issues, and Austin has been working brutally long hours for weeks on end trying to shoulder the financial burden for our family. Just a few weeks before the tornado, our vehicle also completely broke down beyond repair. It feels like one devastating thing after another, and now our family is trying to figure out how to completely start over with almost nothing.

Right now, we need help with starting over — a safe place to live, transportation, food, replacing essentials, and eventually rebuilding what we can. Asking for help is not easy for us — in fact, we honestly have a REALLY hard time asking for help lol — but after losing our home so suddenly during an already difficult financial situation, we honestly don’t know what else to do.
