On September 1st, Staten Island got hit with a storm like no other. Instantly we knew it would be bad, but little did we know it changed our lives as we knew it. It started slow, with just some water in our basement, but within minutes, it breached every wall, window, and crevice and it began to pour in. We rushed to grab everything we could but it became too dangerous as it started shocking us, while we trying to grab whatever we could in time. This basement holds the life of Sean. He has put hundreds of hours into building what was just a basement into his own little home. He lost thousands of dollars worth of electronics, clothing, Legos, collectors figures, and all of our family decorations, memorabilia, and storage was completely ruined. Sean no longer can stay in his room, and now is residing on our couch. This event has brought nothing but depression and anxiety to Our entire family, and especially Sean. Our entire life was ruined because of it, and insurance will not cover a penny of damage. We can’t afford to replace anything. My mom is a single mother who raised 5 kids all on her own, all whilst having 2 jobs. Every bit of money you give to our family will be put to rebuilding our home. We appreciate everything everyone has done for us. Thank you.
