On Christmas Eve, our family’s home was impacted by severe flooding. We did everything we could to protect our home, including securing it with sandbags, but the rainfall was simply too much and the water made its way inside. The flood caused significant damage to our home, including our cabinets, kitchen appliances, carpets, drywall, and flooring. While we do have insurance, we learned the hard way that most insurance policies do not cover this type of flooding, leaving us responsible for the majority of the repairs out of pocket. This has been an overwhelming and unexpected hardship for our family, especially during what is usually a time of togetherness and celebration. Right now, we are focused on making our home safe and livable again.

Funds are most urgently needed for water removal, professional drying and mold prevention, and replacing damaged drywall, flooring, and other basic materials. We also need help covering the cost of cleaning, disinfecting, and restoring essential systems so our home is healthy and safe.
