Our car was broken into outside of my daughter's school last week. They smashed in the window and took apart the steering column in an attempt to steal the car. They ended up leaving the car with all the damages, stealing my daughter's wallet, and fleeing the scene.

This setback comes after I was already struggling to recover from paying for my daughter to attend a summer dance intensive in California. That unexpected expensive pushed me beyond my limits and we've been working with our mortgage company on assistance options.

In the meantime, we rely on our car for my daughter to get to school and to night school safely. While the car is in the shop, we've been renting a vehicle so that she doesn't miss any school, which was a problem last year due to her health.

The repairs have been quoted at $1,400 and the rental costs $200/week. I expect the car will take at least another week of repairs with t he parts already on the way. My daughter's wallet also contained more than $75 in cash and gift cards.

We are asking for community support to cover these unexpected costs that have come when we were already in financial crisis.
