On Monday, January 27th, 2025, I (Tahil) was returning home from a work trip while my parents (Tanu and Lalit) were at work. At 6PM that evening, I opened the front door to his home to find the living room completely turned over (literally to the point that the furniture was on its back.) The police did a walkthrough of the entire home, noting that it was entirely disheveled. No room, no restroom, no shelving was left unturned except for the few places that had any religious significance in the house.
To our horror, we realized that we were robbed. After breaking in through the front door and leaving chaos behind, one or more individuals stole enough money, jewelry, and cherished items that it has destabilized us. We are left with barely a safety net to help us through emergencies, while also missing some important mementos like wedding and engagement rings that can't be replaced. While we're still in shock, it's clear that we still have a lot to do to take care of each other while we process this loss.
We are left with a sense of nervousness and uncertainty for what the future might hold. It will take time to rebuild, and we could use your help. As we wait on the completion of the police report and the subsequent processing of claims through our insurance, it looks certain that a significant portion of what we're looking to recover will not be replaced or reimbursed. This is why we're turning to our loved ones for help. We are grateful for any donation you'd like to give and for sharing this campaign in communities that can afford to support us at this time.
We are raising funds to:
- Replace our front door lock
- Repair some of the damage caused to things like furniture and the mess that was made in the rooms throughout the house (Cleaning supplies, replacement parts/cushions, etc.)
- Purchase a safe or a safe deposit box
- Add a security apparatus to our home (ADT with security cameras, video doorbell with recording, etc.)
- Recuperate some of our funds and the value of stolen jewelry that will allow us to recreate a safety net for emergencies
We're thankful to everyone who can give and share as we continue to show up and support others as we can. Thank you so much.
In gratitude and service,
Tahil, Tanu, and Lalit
(For those that find any issues donating on the GoFundMe website, you are also welcome to donate through Venmo by sending us funds directly to the handle @Interfaithman. We don't receive 100% of the funds through the GoFundMe platform because of transaction costs and we wanted to make sure that people knew of alternative ways on contribute.)
