Nearly two years ago, I faced a life-changing medical emergency. I was found with no pulse and had to be life-flighted to Greenville Hospital, where I spent a month in a coma, suffered six seizures, and endured an anoxic brain injury. I needed dialysis and went through so much that I haven’t been able to work since. It’s been a long, difficult road for our family as we’ve tried to adjust and keep going despite these challenges.

Just a few days ago, our world was turned upside down again. My fiancé was hit head-on by a tractor trailer, breaking his hip and femur in two places. He can’t walk and won’t be able to work for at least six months, according to his doctors. Now, both of us are unable to work, and we’re facing a long stretch of uncertainty. We have two children, and we want to make sure they still feel loved and supported during this time. The stress of covering rent, food, and even basic things like toilet paper has become overwhelming.
