I’m starting this fundraiser for our family after a devastating house fire changed everything in a matter of minutes. Stacie’s mom, sister, and nephew live just three houses down from us, and just after midnight on August 13th, they were woken up by the sound of flames blazing right outside their front door. My daughter-in-law and grandson were spending the night with them, and they made it out safely. The fire destroyed their house and everything they owned. Helen, who is 77, was the last one out of the house, and her 2-year-old great-grandson was spending the night there and also made it out safely. As I’m writing this, Helen is in the hospital. We also lost the vehicle we kept there for emergencies, but right now that is only a material loss compared to what this family has been through.
Right now, we are simply grateful that everyone is alive, but starting over after losing everything is incredibly hard. The funds from this fundraiser will help with clothing, food, living arrangements, and the basic essentials they need as they try to recover and find some stability. Their home is gone, and so are the everyday things most of us depend on without even thinking. Any support means the world to us right now. If you are able to give, please know that your kindness will help our family take the first steps toward recovery, safety, and comfort. Thank you for standing with us during this heartbreaking time.
