My husband and I have always worked hard to provide for our family. For the past year and four months, we both worked full time at The Brewers Art in Baltimore—me as the general manager and my husband in the kitchen. We were looking forward to our paychecks this week, which we rely on to pay rent and bills for our family of five. Today, we were shocked when the owner told us the restaurant was closing immediately and that we would not be paid for our work. We have no other jobs or income, and this sudden loss has left us unsure of how we’ll make it through the next few weeks.
Our journey hasn’t been easy. In 2023, we both got sober and made a commitment to change our lives for the better. We went from living on the streets to getting sober, going back to school, buying a car, and finally securing an apartment for our family. We have a 15-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old daughter, and a 9-month-old son who mean the world to us. We were saving to move and working hard to build a stable future, but now we’re facing a setback we never expected.
We’re asking for help to cover our rent, bills, and basic needs while we search for new jobs. Your support will help us keep our family safe and together as we get back on our feet. We are so grateful for any help you can give, and we promise to pay it forward when we’re able. Thank you for reading our story and for supporting us during this difficult time.
