Fighting to Restore What Sickness Took

Donation protected
A year ago, we thought we had it all.

We had just moved into our first home in North Carolina—new cars in the driveway, a backyard for the kids and dogs, and the feeling that everything we had worked for was finally paying off.

I wasn't praying then. I wasn't walking with God.

I just thought we had made it.

But two days after we moved in, I was laid off from Amazon. My income was the foundation for everything we had just built.

To keep us afloat, my husband started his own cleaning business while working full-time. He was gone all day and night, doing everything he could to keep us in the home we had just moved into. I stayed home with the kids, trying to hold it all together.

Then I got sick.

So sick I could barely walk, couldn't feel half of my face, couldn't eat solids.

I lost my clients, lost my business, and eventually, we lost everything. My husband gave up his job and his cleaning business to be home and care for me and the kids. We tried our hardest, but it still wasn’t enough.

Our house went into foreclosure. But by the grace of God, we were able to sell it just weeks before it was scheduled for auction.

That’s when everything changed—not just around us, but within us.

I became a believer. In the middle of the pain and loss, I found God. And I know now: He’s the one carrying us.

We packed what we could into a storage unit and left everything else behind—baby keepsakes, tools, furniture, photos, memories. With only what fit in our trunk, we drove across the country to California to be near family and find support.

We shared one small room at my mom’s house—no kitchen access, doing dishes in the tub, and trying to find strength for one more day.

Now, we live in a small apartment in Arizona so our kids could have a little more space. We’re still struggling. We’re living paycheck to paycheck, and both my husband and I are searching for second sources of income. But every single day we wake up, we know God isn’t finished with our story.

Our storage unit in North Carolina is now $400/month, and we’re at serious risk of losing it.

We’re asking for help to raise $5,000 to:
• Drive our kids to California to stay with my parents while we travel
• Fly to North Carolina to retrieve our belongings
• Rent a U-Haul and cover hotel, gas, meals
• Board our furry babies during the trip
• Pay off the balance on our storage unit and bring our things home

We had it all and lost everything. But through it all, we found the One who never lets go.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." – Psalm 46:1

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken.” – Isaiah 54:10

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

I never imagined being in this place—having to ask for help. But after doing everything we could and still falling short, I know God sends help through people.

I’m deeply grateful for those who supported us last year when we were in the trenches. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With love, humility, and trust in God,
