Hi, I’m Curt, Al and Bec’s eldest. Last night my parents’ house burnt to the ground. It went up so fast, and by the end there was nothing left. All their photos, everything they owned, the whole house. Gone.

I live interstate, and between work as a paramedic and being so far away, there’s not a lot I can do hands-on from here. Setting this up is one way I can actually help from a distance, so here I am.

We’re all still trying to get our heads around it. The main thing is everyone got out, mum and my younger siblings Flynn, Cohan and Ava, and honestly that’s the only thing that matters. But they’ve been left with pretty much nothing, and the timing is awful.

Mum (Bec) is only just out of major hip surgery and is supposed to be bed-bound while she recovers. Instead of resting where she’s safe and looked after, she’s lost her home and the one place she needed to get better.

The kids lost everything too. Clothes, shoes, all of Cohan and Ava’s school stuff, the lot. Mum and Dad now have to sort all of that out on top of everything else.

Anyone who knows Al and Bec knows how much they put into their business, BEAD, looking after people in the community through the NDIS. They’ve always been the ones helping everyone else, so it feels strange asking, but they could really use a hand right now.

That’s why I’ve set this up. The goal is $20,000, which will help cover somewhere for them to stay, food and clothes, replacing the everyday stuff they’ve lost, getting Cohan and Ava back to school, and giving Mum somewhere safe to keep recovering. Anything left over goes towards rebuilding.

I’m their eldest, and every dollar comes straight to the family. If you can’t chip in, even sharing this page would mean a lot.
