Help Our Family Rebuild After the Venezuela Earthquakes
Hi friends,
Our family in Venezuela has experienced an unimaginable loss following the devastating earthquakes on the evening of 24 June, centred just west of the capital.
My cousin Faridy Silva, her husband José Herrera, and their daughter Veronica Herrera and grandchild Kylie lost their family home in Los Delfines, Catia La Mar, La Guaira. In a matter of moments, they lost not only their house, but all of their possessions, clothing, furniture, important documents, and the sense of safety that every family deserves.
In many parts of the world, insurance or government support might help people rebuild after a disaster. Sadly, that isn’t the reality in Venezuela. The country’s ongoing economic and infrastructure challenges mean there is little to no safety net. Access to basic necessities, building materials, healthcare, and financial support is already incredibly difficult, making recovery almost impossible without help from others.
I’m starting this fundraiser to give my family hope during one of the hardest and unimaginable moments of their lives.
My name is Jessica Weaver, and together with my mother, Eglée Roddis, who are based in Portugal and Spain, we are asking our friends, family, and wider community to help us send funds directly to Faridy and her family so they can get access to some basic immediate care and supplies and I hope begin rebuilding their lives.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping them recover. The funds will help provide:
* Safe temporary accommodation, if needed
* Essential clothing, children’s nappies and personal items
* Food and basic household necessities
* Building materials / home repairs / a future home
* Replacement of essential belongings lost in the destruction
If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and compassion. Knowing that people around the world care gives our family strength at a time when they need it most.
With gratitude,
Eglée & Jessica
