Help Our Family Rebuild After Burglary During Cross Country Move
Our family is in the middle of a cross-country move from Crescent City, California, to New Hampshire. In an effort to help others during our transition, we donated nearly all of our food and furniture to families in need before leaving. Because our home was emptied, we stayed in a hotel overnight.
While we were away, the house was broken into.
Everything we had left behind was stolen.
This included our luggage, personal laptops used for work and school, important documents such as birth certificates and our marriage certificate, jewelry, winter clothing we had just purchased for our children, and the cash that was set aside to pay the driver for our vehicle shipment upon arrival in New Hampshire. The delivery required payment on delivery, and those funds were taken.
Our 18-year-old daughter, 23-year-old son, 14-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son, my wife, and I lost our entire wardrobes. Winter gear we had just purchased to prepare for the East Coast climate is gone. The laptops our children relied on for school and that we used for home office work were also stolen.
At this moment, we quite literally have only the clothes we were wearing.
This has been deeply frustrating. We were trying to close one chapter by giving back and helping others, and unfortunately, someone took advantage of the situation and of us.
We are not looking for sympathy. We are asking for help to cover immediate essentials:
• Clothing for our family
• Replacement Chromebooks for our children’s schooling
• Funds needed to accept vehicle shipment upon arrival
- Food for the first two weeks
Any assistance would be sincerely appreciated. Our goal is simply to get our children equipped for school and rebuild the basic necessities we lost.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you may choose to provide.
