Help Our Family Rebuild After a Devastating Burglary
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
We never imagined we would find ourselves in a situation like this. Just days before Yom Kippur, a time for reflection and renewal, our lives were turned upside down. We returned home to discover that our apartment had been robbed of everything we hold dear. In an instant, we lost our sense of security and the comforts of home.
The thieves took our jewelry, beds, mattresses, computers, and all our technical equipment, even ruining our couch. They also stole vital personal documents, including our social security cards, as well as items we rely on daily, like our crock pot, breast pumps, and anything of value that made our house a home. All that remains are some clothing items, a few baby essentials, and dishes that we can no longer use since they were tainted by non-kosher food. We are left with just one crib for our little ones, and it breaks our hearts to think of how this will impact them.
We estimate that we lost around $15,000 worth of belongings. Beyond the material loss, we feel violated and scared to return to our apartment. Unfortunately, our management has been unresponsive to our pleas for assistance in making our home feel safe again.
Currently, we are staying with my brother-in-law, as we have nowhere else to go. While we are grateful for his support, we urgently need to find a new, safe apartment for our family.
We are reaching out to you for help. Your support will not only aid us in replacing our essentials—like beds, furniture, and dishes—but will also help us secure a safe place to call home once again. We aim to raise $20,000 to cover immediate costs, including:
New Housing: Securing a safe apartment
Basic Necessities: Beds, baby items, and household essentials
Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to starting over. We are truly grateful for any support you can provide, whether it's financial or simply sharing our story.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you can offer. We believe in the power of community, and with your kindness, we hope to turn this tragedy into a new beginning for our family. Once we’re back on our feet, we pledge to pay it forward to help others in need.
With heartfelt gratitude,
David and Sara
