Help our family raise funds for medical care
Donation protected
Hello everyone I raised my total to $80k. We will have to go twice this year so I’ve decided to raise the total as private health care is seriously expensive. Thank you to every person that has donated, it means the world to me.
Hello, you all know me, Stacey, a girl on the move, a doting mother of two boys age 7 and 19, a curious person and a very engaged flower and plant community member. My love for all things involving flowers and plants runs deep inside my heart and I hope to always put a smile on your face by sharing my passion with you. ❤️
I’m turning 50 in February and today, February 4th is World Cancer Day.
For those if you that know me, you know what I’ve already gone through and I sincerely appreciate the private donations received.
In September of 2021, after feeling something was off for some time, I ended up at Emergency in crippling pain. We thought it was a nagging hip injury. And it was also during the Pandemic. After several ultrasounds, blood tests and a CT Scan, our family got the devastating news that my so-called hip pain was Stage 3B High Grade Serrous Ovarian Cancer. It was the hardest time of our lives. It led me to an extensive surgery mere days post diagnosis which revealed the cancer had spread far outside its origin. The surgery left me depleted and the worst was knowing just three weeks post-op, I had to start an extremely difficult chemotherapy protocol for 6 months via an IP port and traditional IV. It left our entire family struggling to gain our strength and grasp what had happened. Once my chemotherapy was finished, things didn't get easier for me for a while as a further emergency surgery and platelet transfusions followed me throughout 2022.
Our family pushed on as normal as possible by me going back to my passions. Life goes on. It felt like things were looking up for me and I took advantage of life’s greatest days. I have been observed every 3 months since 2022. I had reached nearly 2 years in remission. How grateful I was to have gotten that time with my family and friends.
Friends, you listen to your body and it tells you something is wrong. This past summer 2024, my body told me that the small pain in my left side was unusual. And here we are again. An ultrasound, followed by a CT scan and a biopsy revealed that my cancer had metastasized and new lesions were found in my liver, pancreas and abdomen. What a blow to us all after the fight to get me well just two years ago. So back to chemotherapy I went with a hopeful end date in February of 2025. You see your body tends to get a bit sluggish in repairing itself if you have a recurrence. Many ups and downs.
In the meantime, with the help of very special friends, our family has looked abroad for potential cancer treatments that may give me a better chance of survival with additional help that may boost my bloodwork and bones. Thinking about not being here to see Connor grow up and Nathan graduate devastate me daily. The time had come for our family to take matters further and seek treatment in Germany, at a private oncology clinic. We also love our time at Princess Margaret Hospital who have given me many tools to survive both physically and mentally.
Cancer is anger inducing, cancer ruins families and cancer is above all very costly. I am humbly asking for assistance to try and cover a portion of the costs to receive treatment in Germany where there may be more options than I may have here. Our family truly appreciates your consideration in helping me get back to tending my flowers, continuing my beloved Pilates practice in between treatments and living my best life.
please know that our family will be traveling at least twice again to Germany and these funds will directly go towards very expensive private treatments which my goal only covers a fraction of the cost.
Thank you for reading my story. Life is the greatest gift. ❤️
