Hello, my name is Amy. I am the sister of Lisa Henson. On 8-8-2024 at 4:38 am, Lisa was in a serious car accident in Camanche, Iowa. Lisa was airlifted to the University of Iowa at 7:40 that morning. Lisa suffered an aneurysm that morning while driving to Comanche, and the doctors and trauma team believe that's how the crash happened. Lisa's car rolled 4 to 5 times and she was ejected out of her sunroof and was thrown 60 feet, causing life-threatening injuries. She sustained head trauma, brain bleed along with multiple injuries to her neck, head, spine, and lungs.
Lisa underwent a surgery at 5:20 that night to have half of her skull removed for the bleeding to go into a different area to help with the swelling in the brain. Lisa also has a bolt in her head to monitor the pressure in the brain which has been fluctuating up and down. She is also on a ventilator to help her breathing. For the people that do not know my sister, Lisa is 42 years old. She's lived a life of a gypsy and a flower child. She recently had a baby on January 18 of 2024. Her name is Penelope. Lisa has always wanted a baby girl, always wanted to have a baby and my sister is such a great mom. Penelope is her world and Lisa is Penelope‘s world.
I am starting a GoFundMe page to help my family with some expenses. My sister did not have life insurance nor did she have insurance nor did my mom have any kind of life insurance on her as well because of her age. This is going to be a long road for our family and I, especially for Penelope and Lisa's long fight, not knowing how long she will be in the University of Iowa. Anything would help our family and her beautiful daughter Penelope. Please continue to pray for my sister and our family. Keep us in your prayers and we greatly appreciate all of the comments and all of the text messages in the prayers throughout this horrible situation. Lisa is a fighter and her story is not over yet. Thank you.
