On Monday, September 29th, our beloved Steven “Bucky” Conklin, a brother, uncle, and friend, was found unresponsive in his apartment. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but by the time he was found, his brain had already suffered severe swelling, and he had experienced a heart attack. He had been in that state for some time before being discovered.
Bucky was diabetic, and his condition had become difficult to manage. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, there was no brain activity, and he was unable to breathe on his own. After many prayers and heart-wrenching conversations, our family made the painful decision to remove him from life support. On the morning of October 10th, at 7:32 a.m., Bucky was pronounced brain dead. He was only 62 years old.
This has been an incredibly difficult time for our family, who has been by his side throughout this difficult process. While Medicare thankfully covered the hospital expenses, it does not cover after-death costs. We are not having a formal funeral, but we want to ensure Bucky is laid to rest respectfully through cremation. The total cost for cremation and related expenses is around $2,500.
Our family has contributed what we can, but we still need help to cover the remaining balance. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward these final expenses and will help ease the burden on the family during this heartbreaking time.
Please keep our family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of someone we loved deeply. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
With gratitude,
The Family of Steven “Bucky” Conklin
