Hello,
This is Danielle and Mariah Malcolm writing on behalf of our father, Joseph. For the better part of a decade, our mother, Lydia, has had a host of health issues. These spanned anywhere from diabetes, spinal injuries, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, cholesterol and blood pressure issues, and everything in-between. Mom had her first bout of heart issues in 2014; at that time she was placed on a ventilator for over a month prior to having her Mitral Valve replaced. About eleven years later, her valve was attacked by a virus. We won't get into too much detail here, as her ordeal was highly traumatic to all involved– But mom entered the hospital on December 18, 2025, had her Mitral Valve replacement surgery on February 23, 2026, and passed away on March 21, 2026. She never made it home. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
As many of you know, medical bills and funeral costs are extreme. We are a family who lives frugally, barely keeping to the surface. Mom’s decades of medical bills– which include numerous extensive hospital stays, surgeries, large amounts of daily medications, and many specialty doctors– have hit us hard in the last few years. We aren’t sure how we are going to get past the bills from this current four month stay, but dad is insistent that we will be okay. So– he’s only requested that we ask for help with moms funeral expenses. We’re currently looking at just under $15,000. It’s a staggering number for us, especially since mom didn’t have life insurance, and we’re still all very numb by the loss of her. If you can donate anything at all, we so appreciate you, and if you can’t– have a coca-cola for mom today.
Thank you in advance for any help,
The Malcolms
