On our move back to New Jersey from Florida, Anthony was in a bad accident with the rental truck on I-95 North, Monday 11/03/2025, in Sumter, South Carolina. He lost control of the 26ft moving truck and veered into the grass median. He ended up hitting the pillar of an overpass and rolled twice. I know this because I watched the accident happen from my driver's side mirror. Trying to hold in my screams as Annabelle was in the back seat, not trying to be dramatic, I was thinking there was absolutely no way he survived. As you can see from the pictures, there was a fire in the engine, and the front of the truck was totaled. With the help of good Samaritans who stopped, they were able to quickly extinguish the fire and break the windshield to get Anthony out. Also, with the help of two lovely women, I was able to run back and forth between Annabelle and the dog still in our car and Anthony at the crash site. Miraculously, Anthony WALKED away from the accident with some cuts, bumps, nasty bruises, and soreness. After he was discharged from the ER, we decided to get a motel room for the night to get some rest and reset. The next morning, roadside assistance from the rental company called us to explain that once they could get the truck in their possession, we would have to then transfer the load ourselves to another rental and continue our drive home (we were told they would have the truck in their possession around 11 am the next day). Anthony and I mutually agreed that we would not be able to stay another night to pay for another motel, food, and to transfer the load ourselves with how sore he was, along with a four-year-old (Annabelle) and a dog. Good thing we didn't stay because the truck didn't get into the rental company's possession until Saturday, 11/08. The rental company graciously agreed to empty the truck for us and gave us a free month of storage until we could figure out how to get our belongings back. Everything we owned was on that truck. We learned that many of our belongings were destroyed when the truck rolled. Bikes, toys, furniture, appliances, electronics, etc... gone. It's all material possessions; that stuff can be replaced in time, my husband cannot. We have been blessed with the help of family and friends to get some clothes for us and toys for Annabelle in the meantime. What we can't get back until we get our belongings are the irreplaceable things... family ashes, pictures, documents, memorabilia, etc. There are still lots of unanswered questions as the rental company and their insurance company love to drag their feet.

Here is where Anthony and I are humbly asking for your help. We need to gather the funds to get our belongings shipped to New Jersey. Additionally, if we go over that one-month mark (tomorrow will be three weeks), we will need to pay for storage until we can get our things shipped. We were quoted $230.00 a month for storage and $2,500.00 to have our things shipped to New Jersey. You may be asking why we waited so long to get our things shipped back... there was never an address on file of where our things were being stored until yesterday.
