Our family is asking for help during one of the hardest moments of our lives.

On March 14th our dad, Gerardo Reyes Gonzalez, was detained after what started as a traffic stop involving my brother.

We were later told this stop was connected to a report about a missing girl .. something that should always be taken seriously.

But what doesn’t make sense, and what continues to raise concern for our family, is that no real effort was made to investigate or verify that situation during the stop.

There was no proper follow-up, no clear attempt to check for the missing girl yet the situation escalated anyway.

Instead, both my brother and my dad were charged with “interfering with public duties.”

Since that moment, everything has changed for our family.

Our dad is now being held in detention separated from his family, sleep deprived, and struggling through difficult conditions while we fight to bring him home.

Meanwhile, the officer involved has now been placed on paid administrative leave.

The person responsible for this situation is at home, still getting paid

while my dad remains detained, suffering the consequences.

That is not accountability.

Our dad has been the main provider for our family for years. A few years ago, my mom was involved in a serious accident caused by a drunk driver that left her permanently disabled. Since then, our dad has been the one holding everything together financially, emotionally, and as a father.

Now he’s gone, and our family is struggling to stay afloat.

We are facing overwhelming legal expenses, including both criminal and immigration attorneys, along with basic living costs just to keep our household stable. On top of that, we are paying just to stay in contact with him while he’s detained and those costs add up quickly.

We are doing everything we can to fight for him, but we cannot do this alone.

This situation has taken a huge emotional and financial toll on our family, and we are asking for support during this time.
