What can I say about Mr. Andre Lopez? If you’ve had the privilege of knowing him, then you know the first thing about Andre is his humor. His ability to bring a smile to your face, to make you laugh at the silliest things, and the love and support he has always given to his friends and family.
If you really know Andre, then you know that unique little giddy laugh he has when he truly finds something amusing. You know about his completely unapologetic public dancing, because Andre will dance wherever and whenever he feels like it, whether you’re embarrassed or not. You know his silliness, his jokes, and that sometimes just watching him be Andre is enough to make you laugh.
But you also know how much he loves the people in his life. Andre has always been there for his family and his friends. He is the person who will joke around with you one minute and be there to support you when you really need him the next.
That’s Andre. He’s silly, he’s loving, he’s funny, and he is completely and unapologetically himself. And those of us who love him wouldn’t have him any other way.

Those are the parts of Andre that I hold onto immensely while he fights the battle of his life. I hold onto his laugh, his silliness, his dancing, his love, and everything that makes Andre, Andre.

Please Help Me Bring Him Home
On January 1, 2026, our lives completely changed. Andre suffered a severe pontine hemorrhagic stroke and was rushed to the hospital, where he fell into a coma. I was told that the first 72 hours were critical and that he might not survive.
I can’t even explain the devastation I felt hearing those words. I was so scared that if I left his side, even just to go home and take a shower, something would happen to him while I was gone. So, I stayed. For the first month, I stayed by his side 24 hours a day. Everyone kept insisting that I go home, shower, sleep for a little while, and come back. I couldn’t do it. Nothing anyone said could convince me to leave him.
After two weeks, Andre finally woke up, but unfortunately, he was experiencing locked-in syndrome. The only thing he could move were his eyes, and even those he couldn’t fully control. Andre has been through so much since his stroke. He has fought through being in a coma, infections, hospitalizations, wounds, and so many other complications. There have been many times when I have been terrified that I was going to lose him. But Andre fought through it all.

He is still fighting, and I am going to continue fighting for him. He has made progress since waking up from his coma, but he still has a long road to recovery.
Right now, my biggest goal is to bring him home.

Why I Want to Bring Andre Home
After spending about a month in the hospital, Andre was transferred to a rehab facility. After only six days, Andre was severely neglected and developed a Stage 3 wound. His condition got worse, and he ended up right back in the hospital. He then spent another month and a half there fighting several infections and complications.
Eventually, Andre was transferred to another rehabilitation facility. In the beginning, things were completely different. The workers were kind and attentive to his needs. They allowed me to stay overnight with him, which gave me peace of mind because I could be there with him and make sure he was okay. Most importantly, Andre was making progress.

Unfortunately, over the past couple of months, things have changed drastically. There have been too many incidents where Andre’s basic needs have been neglected and too many situations where I have been concerned about his safety. I don’t want to move him to another facility and start this all over again. I don’t want to keep wondering if the next place is going to be better or worse. I just want to bring him home.

What It Will Take to Bring Him Home
Our home needs to be prepared for him. Since his stroke, I left my full-time job so I could take care of him. His son, Danny, has also taken a break from college in order to be there for his dad. He has since become my strongest rock, working alongside me to help care for his dad.

But things have been financially difficult for us. We have been living off our savings and trying to keep up with our regular living expenses while dealing with everything else. At this point, we have nearly exhausted all of our resources and need as much help as possible to prepare for Dre to come home.

I have tried getting assistance from the state and have been denied. I am still fighting, but it looks like that in itself will be a long battle before anything is approved.

Donations from this GoFundMe will help with:
* Electrical work needed to safely run Andre’s ventilator and other medical equipment
* Nursing care for approximately the first two months after he comes home while we adjust and establish a routine
* Physical therapy and rehabilitation that insurance will not cover
* Medical supplies and equipment that aren’t completely covered
* Andre’s everyday toiletries and personal-care supplies
* New sheets, blankets, mattress protection, and bedding for his medical bed
* Other medical and household expenses associated with bringing him home
* Any medically necessary equipment, care, or supplies that his insurance doesn’t cover

There Are Other Ways You Can Help Us

There are a few other things I am desperately looking for, and I am hoping that sharing Andre’s story might help me reach the right people.

A Neurologist Willing to Look at Andre’s Case

A Physical Therapist Who Specializes in Pontine Strokes and Is Willing to Come to Our Home

I am looking for remote work. I have 25+ years of experience as an ophthalmic technician, surgical coordinator, and in medical billing. If anyone has a legitimate remote position available or knows someone who is hiring, please keep me in mind.

Even If You Can’t Donate, You Can Still Help Us
Please share Andre’s story. Sometimes getting his story in front of the right person can make just as much of a difference as a donation.
At this point, I am trying every avenue I possibly can because my husband deserves every chance I can give him.
Every donation helps.
Every share helps.
Every connection helps.
Every prayer helps.
I don’t know exactly what Andre’s recovery will look like or how long it will take. What I do know is that he has fought incredibly hard to still be here.

Dre has fought so hard to stay with us. Now I am asking for your help to bring him home so we can continue this fight together and give him every possible chance to recover.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has prayed for Andre, checked on us, supported us, shared his story, or helped us in any way. It means more to our family than I can ever put into words.
